--"Your Lordship hath nobley and fully satisfied my expectation by inrichinge me with the testimony of your favours and good opinion of my selfe. I will holde it a sute obtayned if I may live to confirm the same unto you, and mutch may be and I live longer than I wishe, contemned things often thrives the best. Your Lordship hath don what lyeth in you, and more with another of that estate as har Majesty is than I could require, who loked rather har gratiousnes should have foregon my petitions. Since it sorts short I am not sory the fault is none of mine, who having reserved my reputation leave the base ambition of an after dated reward to har Majesties best pleasure, esteeming har gratious words better than preferments purchaced unworthely and unseasonably by my owne importunities."
