Title: | LORD WYLLUGHBY to the STATES GENERAL. |
Description: |
--Has received theirs of the 26th ult., but as to the writing there mentioned, finds that it contains nothing upon which he has not already and repeatedly desired to confer with them, in order better to impress upon them the importance of the matter, as they well know. Has had nothing more at heart than to acquit himself to the best of his power towards their country and Her Majesty, but thanks them for their exhortation and will do all he can to satisfy them. The place of Serjeant Major General for the English has been given to the "Chevalier Ver" [Sir Francis Vere], who (during his own absence) will do his utmost to fulfil any wishes which they may put before him. |
