Description:

Frederick French, Merrion Sq, Dublin, to Mr. Turvile, Husbands Bosworth

In consequence of the seizure of [Feargus] O'Connor a troop descended on a secret meeting of United Irishmen, held them up at gunpoint and took their papers which gave enough evidence of collusion with the French to hang them. Lord Edward Fitzgerald was allowed to escape although a plan for a Dublin insurrection was found in his desk. F. French has bought his seat in Parliament for a lesser price than before and made his maiden speech urging greater powers for the government.
