James F. Doughty Tichbourne, Paris to G. F. Turvile

 

Has had influenza and hopes to go to Tichbourne in the middle of June, and though not affluent, to be able to provide some shooting and entertainment for his friends. Rumour that the Empress is pregnant and his views on the succession of the Bonapartes. Supposes Lady Shrewsbury will take care to marry her son to a foreigner. His son Roger has sailed for Valparaiso. Offers hospitality to G.F.Turvile's son Francis, should he come to Paris. Hopes the Pope will not come to crown the Emperor. Refers to their schoolmaster at Old Hall Green as "the Douay cook who married the charming Widow Priest, which gave us all such exquisite pleasure."
