Praising his good sense in taking Mrs. T. to Cheltenham for the winter. Hopes to see them while there. Cannot visit Bosworth as havingno steward or bailiff he is kept very busy. Is applying himself to the business of learning farming. News of his family. Notes Lord Shrewsbury's generosity to his brother John Talbot. Now that invasion is no longer the fear he expects the papers to be full of the coronation "of this very extraordinary adventurer" (Bonaparte).
