George Turvile, Dover Castle, to FFT, Bosworth Hall Expecting invasion at any moment but hope to be out of the Castle by Spring. Two detachments - one at Western Heights and the other at St. Margarets Bay. Has given his servant notice. Their mess is very wet so they have pitched a tent in the Castle so that they may dine in comfort. The officers have subscribed their last month's pay to buy flannel waistcoats for the men. Asks if his father can secure a groom's services for him - at 14 shillings for board and wages. |
