Lord Shrewsbury [London], to FFT. Bosworth

 

The Duke of York informs him that Charles Turvile cannot be admitted to Woolwich Academy as he is over 14 years old. Col. Brownrigg who was on the establishment deplores the standard of education. The only other way to entering the army is by purchasing a commission. Can employ one of FFT's housemaids at £12 p.a. and tea, sugar and washing but will not pay her fare to London as he could find a housemaid there without that expense.
