Reports on the illness of George Talbot. The place is not attractive. Turvile has asked G. T. to be godfather to his infant (a daughter). Longford sold to Mr. Leck for £27,000. Hore Cross (Lord S's) up for sale. Lady S. has taken Lacock Abbey on lease. Mrs. F. Talbot has been inoculating her children. Chapel at Hassop. John [Talbot] "deeply smitten" with Miss Clifton. The King is very ill. Dormer disagrees with Pitt over his limitations on the executive power of the third estate. Talk of Catholics signing a public declaration renouncing some imputed doctrines (Dec. 1788).
