Catalogue description Miscellaneous records: General Manager

The Skelmersdale Development Corporation, unlike the Central Lancashire Development Corporation had no distinct series of records of the General Manager/Managing Director. His records generally passed into the Central Registry System (see NTSK 4/1/18-31 for example) although the following records are exceptional. Mr. R.W. Phelps, the outgoing General Manager of Skelmersdale took them to the Central Lancashire Development Corporation on his appointment as General Manager there in 1971. They were deposited in the Record Office by the Commission for New Towns on the dissolution of the C.L.D.C. and were placed with the rest of the Skelmersdale records.

It should perhaps be noted that from 1973 the General Manager of the Skelmersdale Development Corporation became known as the Managing Director.
