Title: Dartford Borough
Description:

The town of Dartford was incorporated a municipal borough by Royal Charter in 1933.

This superseded the urban district, constituted in 1894 under the Local Government Act of that year. The urban district itself replaced the Local Board of nine members formed in 1850. The records, in most cases, form a continuous series, the changes being in name only and to avoid confusion these changes in appellation ('Local Board', 'Urban District Council, 'Borough of Dartford') have been omitted in the catalogue of the Council and Committee records

Financial and Charity Records obtained in this accession, relating to the Parish of Dartford in the Dartford Union, have been retained in this list.

The volumes of the records of the Special Committee help to supplement the records of the ordinary committees, since it was as special committees that many of the ordinary committees made their advent. The minutes of the General Purposes Committee contained in the Special Committee volume (DA/AMc27/2) also help to fill in gaps in the ordinary records of that committee

Where any record is indicated 'missing', this means that the record has not yet been acquired by the Kent Record Office, but it has been numbered because, in view of its recent and official nature, it may turn up
