The United Reformed Church was founded in October 1972 by union of the Congregational Church in England and Wales and the Presbyterian Church of England. However not all the churches belonging to these two denominations agreed to accept the 1972 Scheme of Union. The records of those Hertfordshire churches which remained separate are catalogued under the reference NC.

Introduction

 

Radlett Congregational Church was established in 1905 by the Hertfordshire Congregational Union of Churches. The church, on Watling Street, was opened on 6 November 1905 (see NR9/2/1).

 

On 10 October 1972 Radlett Congregational Church became Radlett United Reformed Church. On 4 March 1980 the Methodists amalgamated with the United Reformed Church, and the Church moved to the Methodist Church in Station Road. [See NM1E].
