At first services were various locations, a cottage at Bankside Downs, Chorley Wood Road, Blackett's Farm, Heronsgate and later a house in the High Street are known to have been used. A permanent church had certainly been erected in the High Street by 1841. After a disastrous fire in 1865 the church was completely rebuilt to the design of a Mr Pearson. An adjoining site was purchased in 1925 for the erection of new church hall and school room. This building, opened in 1931, became known as the Cloisters Hall.

From 1854 until 1872 Rickmansworth formed part of the Uxbridge circuit. It then became part of the newly constituted Watford circuit. However in 1922 it was transferred to the Harrow circuit until again in 1947 it became part of the larger Watford circuit. A resident Minister was accommodated from this date at a newly purchased manse 34 Nightingale Road, Rickmansworth.
