Administrative / biographical background:

A Wesleyan society in North Watford was first formed in 1898 when services were held in the Co-operative Hall. In June 1900 iron and materials were purchased for the erection of a church at Callow Land at the corner of St Albans Road and Regent Street. Opening services were held on 24 October 1900. This was replaced in 1928 by the church and school at Harebreaks. Harebreaks was renamed North Watford in 1971 on its amalgamation with the former Primitive church in St Albans Road, Watford (see NM7I). Renovations and alterations were carried out in 1975 with the addition of a large extension known as Unity Hall
