Administrative / biographical background:

The first Wesleyan chapel to be built in Queen's Road, Watford was opened on 16 December 1869. This replaced a chapel in Farthing Lane, Watford opened in 1838. The foundation stone of a new church was laid 30 May 1888 and consecrated on 16 January 1889. It was found that major structural repairs were required to the building by the 1960's and the church was finally closed in 1966. The site was sold and the buildings demolished for re-development. The congregation amalgamated with Whippendell Road. (see NM7K)
