D/EEA/1-4 were deposited in 1976 by the Rector of Barnet. The remainder were deposited by Mr J Pearce, Clerk to the Trustees, Elizabeth Allen Trust in 1977 (Acc 1597) and 1981 (Acc 1870).

Administrative / biographical background:

The trust was founded under the will of Elizabeth Allen, 1725 to provide elementary education for boys and girls in Barnet free of charge. The school in Wood Street, Barnet has been variously known as Barnet National School, Barnet Church of England School and the Wood Street School. In September 1932 the school reopened after alterations and extensions as a senior school. Under the 1944 Education Act it became an aided school.
