Administrative / biographical background:

The minutes include those of the annual general meeting and of committee meetings. The committee met in Summer and Autumn of each year to organise the various activities such as ploughing matches and sheepdog trials. In 1924 the name of the society was altered from Pontrilas and Golden Valley agricultural Improvement Society by dropping the word "Improvement". In that year also a new set of rules was drawn up. The activities of the Society came to an end in 1939 and it was finally wound up at the meeting of 4 Feb. 1967.
