Description:

Enclosed with the above, a copy of the will of James Carpenter of the Hill, Kings Pyon. His dwelling- house called the Hill, now in his occupation and his dwelling house called the Browns in Dilwyn now in his own occupation - to his mother Elizabeth Carpenter for her life.

 

Then an annuity of £500 out of his real estate to his sister Elizabeth, wife of Michael Cheese of Hereford, apothecary - William Dorne of Hereford, gent, trustee. His messuages to his brother John Carpenter for life, then to trustees- Edmund Jones of Much Farley and Issac Marston of Wilaston in Kings Pyon in trust for the issue on tail males of John Carpenter and in default of such issue he devises the messuages to his nephew John Cheese, eldest son of Michael Cheese, for life and then to trustees in trust for his issue in tail male, and in default of such to Edmund, youngest son of Michael Cheese in the same manner: in default of his issue to the testator's right heirs. His nephews to take the name Carpenter on pain of losing the inheritance to the next in the remainder. To his trustees, messuage and lands in Cusop and Clodock and messuage and land in St. Margarets in trust to sell in aid of his personal estate. To his trustees, his stock (cattle, horses, implements of Husbandry etc) in trust to sell.

 

The monies arising from the sale of real and personal estate to be applied to discharge of mortgage upon the Hill and the Brown and to pay all debts, and the residue to be invested in purchase of neighbouring property to go along with the Hill and The Brown.
