According to Kelly's Directories of Essex , 1886-1937 the North Hinckford Petty Sessional Division comprised the following parishes for this period: Ashen, Belchamp Otten, Belchamp St. Paul, Belchamp Walter, Birdbrook, Borley, Bulmer, Steeple Bumpstead, Foxearth, Gestingthorpe, Castle Hedingham, Sible Hedingham, Liston, Great Maplestead, Ovington, Pentlow, Ridgewell, Stambourne, Sturmer, Tilbury-juxta-Clare, Toppesfield, Great Yeldham and Little Yeldham. Little Maplestead was also part of this division until c.1886. By 1890 it formed part of the South Hinckford Division (Halstead Bench) and was later part of the new Halstead Division created in 1905.
