No volume should be produced until 30 years after completion A/HF 1 Insurance Committee for Essex A/HF 2 National Health Service Executive Council for Essex A/HF 3 Insurance Committee for Southend A/HF 4 National Health Service Executive Council for Southend Insurance committee for Essex (A/HF 1) Insurance Committees were constituted for each county and county borough under the National Insurance Act, 1911. They were responsible for administering medical benefit (medical treatment and attendance) and sanatorium benefit (treatment in sanatoria for tuberculosis) for all insured persons, and for administering sickness, disablement and maternity benefits for insured persons who were not members of an approved Society. The functions of insurance Committee were transferred to Executive Councils in 1948 National Health Service Executive Council for Essex (A/HF 2) Under the National Health Service Act, 1946, Executive Councils were constituted for each local health authority i.e. each county and county borough. Executive Councils were responsible for making arrangements with medical practitioners, dentists, etc., for provision of personal,medical, dental, etc. services. In 1974 each Area health Authority set up a Family Practitioner Committee under the National Health Service Reorganisation Act, 1973. Essex Family Practitioner Committee therefore took over the responsibilities of the Executive Council for Essex and Southend Executive Council. |
