Description:

The Weymouth borough petty sessions covered the borough of Weymouth and Melcombe Regis, and was a sub-division of the Dorchester county division until c1923. The borough was extended beyond the two parishes by the Local Government Board Provisional Orders Confirmation (No 13) Act 1895, to include parts of Radipole and Wyke Regis. The borough was further extended by the Dorsetshire Review Order 1933 to include parts of Bincombe, Broadwey, Chickerell, Preston, Radipole, Upwey and Wyke Regis.

 

In 1974 the borough petty sessions were amalgamated with the Portland county division. Some records were kept with the borough before this date (see catalogue). In 1986 the Portland records were again separated (see PS/PTD).
