Administrative / biographical background: |
The Trust grew out of a drug rehabilitation working party which was formalised in 1973, and initially operated under the name of the Bournemouth Project. The Project found a permanent base at 133 Princess Road, Bournemouth in 1977, subsequently known as 'Stella Maris', and from 1983, 'Meta House'. Its predominant aim from this time was the provision of residential accommodation to rehabilitated female drug addicts, first single women and later mothers with their children. The name of the charity was changed to the Meta House Trust in 1986. The Trust was wound up in 1995. |
