Title: BOURNEMOUTH
Description:

Bournemouth was incorporated as a borough in 1890. Before 1894 it was parochially parts of Christchurch and Holdenhurst. The registers however predate both these dates.

The borough was extended by the Local Government Board Provisional Orders Confirmation (No. 16) Act 1895 to include more of Holdenhurst, and again similarly by the Local Government Board Provisional Orders Confirmation (No. 16) Act 1899. It was credited a county borough on 1 April 1900.

The Local Government Board Provisional Orders Confirmation (No. 7) Act 1901 brought Pokesdown and Winton Urban District Councils into Bournemouth, together with further parts of Holdenhurst, and Southbourne parish. The Local Government Board Order of 1 November 1914 added still more of Holdenhurst, which was finally subsumed by the Bournemouth Corporation Act 1930, together with parts of Kinson parish, on 1 April 1931. The Bournemouth and Portsmouth Order 1932 transferred part of Christchurch.

The division has continued to enjoy jurisdiction over the extent of the borough boundaries.
