Administrative / biographical background:

A brief history of the Calmady family up to c1800 can be found at the beginning of PWDRO 372. The later Calmadys are descended from Admiral Charles Holmes Everett. He adopted the name and arms of the family in 1788 by right of his marriage to Pollexfen Calmady, heiress to the family estates. Admiral Calmady, as he became known, was succeeded by his son Charles Biggs Calmady. The Calmady lineage presently lies with the Collier family of Woodtown, Sampford Spiney, descendants of Cycill Christiana Calmady (sister of Vincent Pollexfen Calmady) who in 1854 married William Frederick Collier.
