Continued appeal of Joseph Thomas austen, esq. against poor rate in Fowey, made 26 Feb. last ast 1s. 6d. in £., John Thomas Austen claiming that Thomas Bate, George Bate, James Pain, jun., Edward Sings and Joseph Thomas were illegally rated and not occupiers at time of assessment; but were rated to enable them to vote in parliamentary election: names of Thomas Bate and Joseph Thomas were struck off. Edward Sings who had been rated in respect of house called Stockers struck off. Rate confirmed regarding George Bate and James Pain jun. Joseph Thomas Austen's charge in respect of Pill Copper Ore Quay reduced from £6 to £1.10s.0d.
