QS/1/6/461 Robert Day, master, and James Thomas, mariner, both of the sloop Friends of Bideford, swore that they shipped, at Liverpool on 26 May 1797, 200 and 240 bushels of British fishery salt, bound for Fowey for John Mills of Mevagissey; the sloop sprang a leak in stormy weather, and 362 bushels of salt were lost, the loss not being due to leakage of the sloop or any neglect by the crew. Presentment of highways in Little Petherick: discharged. Thomas Pope, jun., late of Kenwyn, butcher; guilty of assault: fined 1d.
