Title: | NANTWICH, ST ANNE CATHOLIC CHURCH |
Description: |
There are known to have been missions in Nantwich in 1832 and 1843-7 (served from Crewe) but no registers appear to have survived. In 1852 Rev H Alcock re-opened the mission in an old salt shed and laid the foundation stone for a church, dedicated to St Anne, in 1855. In 1868 Nantwich was withdrawn from Crewe, and Rev J Robinson became the first resident priest. The present church, in Pillory Street, was opened in 1936. |
