Title: STANLEY OF ALDERLEY RECORDS
Description:

The records of the Stanleys of Alderley deposited in the Cheshire Record Office came principally from the correspondence gathered together by Jane H Adeane and deposited by Lady Kathleen Stanley in 1953 (Acc 136,140). It consequently includes the greater part of the letters printed in Jane Adeane's two books "The Girlhood of Maria Josepha Holroyd (2nd edition 1897), and "The Early Married Life of Maria Josepha Stanley" (2nd edition 1900).

To this nucleus has been added family papers deposited mostly through the good offices of the Hon Adelaide Lubbock, and also deeds, and estate records from the family's solicitors and from successors in title to the Alderley Park estate, Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd. A full statement of the sources of records listed is given in the Concordance of Accessions with References.
