Administrative / biographical background:

The firm was founded in the mid 19th century as Dutton and Lamb but in March 1870 this partnership was dissolved and the company came into the sole possession of George Dutton.

 

In January 1920 it became a limited company known as George Dutton and Sons (Northwich) Ltd, making roller leather for cotton spinning, hat leathers, skivers and shoe linings and clothing and fancy leathers.
