Title: MANOR AND FOREST OF MACCLESFIELD
Description:

The records listed consist almost exclusively of those of the copyhold court, the business of which was confined to land transactions - surrenders, admittances, enrolment of wills etc. The records do not include the normal minor jurisdictional matters which one would expect to find in manor court records.

Note: "
Date: 1700-1936
Arrangement:

The records are arranged by the monarch's regnal year; within each year every transaction is numbered (the number of transactions per year varies between c35 and 80) and this number is applied throughout all the main series, ie. registers of surrenders, proclamations, court rolls and drafts. The registers of surrenders therefore function as an index to the archive.
