Administrative / biographical background: |
On 29 September 1921, a general meeting was held at the King's Head Hotel, Grosvenor Street, at the request of various motor cycling enthusiasts of Chester and district. As a consequence of the meeting, the Chester and District Motor Cycle and Light Car Club was formed. The first chairman was Mr A Wood and the first honorary secretary and treasurer was Captain W G Hill. In 1925, the Club's name was changed to Chester Motor Club. The Club's activities were suspended between 1940 and 1945, owing to the war and the first post war meeting was held at Milton's garage, Union Street, on 10 June 1945. |
