2. Indictment that Anne [illegible] of Chester, spinster, on 20? Oct. 1573 in Chester stole [illegible] valued at 10d. belonging to Anne Trafford of Chester, widow. Billa vera.

 

3. Indictment that Richard Rees of Chester, weaver, on 7 November 1573 in Chester broke into the house of William Smith of Chester, glover, and stole nine sheep skins valued at 6s. belonging to the said Willaim Smith, and that Thomas Hughson of Chester, glover, on the same day, knowing of this theft, aided and helped the said Richard. 4. Indictment that Richard Stopforde of Eccleston, co. Lancaster, yeoman, on 28 Oct. 1573 in Chester, stole 6 silver spoons, the price of each one being 6s., belonging to George Mynshull of Ricrofte, Cheshire, yeoman. Billa vera.

8. 18 Dec. 1573 Presentment by the Sheriffs of David Montford, the elder, for receiving goods, belonging to strangers brought into the town to be sold, into his cellars, and not taking these goods to the Commonhall and paying stallage, contrary to the orders of the city. Billa vera.

 

9. Indictment that John Davenport of Chester, gent., Peter ? Philkyn of Tattenhall, Cheshire, [missing] and Nicholas Barker of Chester, yeoman, with others unknown, on 21 Nov. 1573 forcibly entered and ejected John Glyn of Chester [missing] from his free tenement in Chester, and that he has been kept from his tenement from 21 Nov. to the day of this indictment, contrary to the statute of 8 Henry VI. 88. Petition of George Tayler against his assessment of 1d. a week for the poor, as he believes others of better means pay less, and on account of his age. Offers to pay ½d. a week as formerly.

 

89. Petition of Lawrence Rolenson against he increase of his assessment for the poor from 1d. to 2d. a month. States that he has no farm or tenement as held by John Holt or Willam Sproson, farmers, who only pay 1d. a month. Says he has kept a boy to his sons for 6 years and also the cost of his children, as well as a 'litell wenche' of his brother's.
