Catalogue description Ely and South Witchford Petty Sessions Division

This record is held by Cambridgeshire Archives

Details of PS/E
Reference: PS/E
Title: Ely and South Witchford Petty Sessions Division
Description:

This catalogue at present covers only those records deposited about 1952 and in 1961-2. Many other petty sessions records have since been transferred. Those received since 1965 are summarised in the accessions lists in the Annual Reports of the County Archivist. A summary list covering all records received to 1985 is also available.

Arrangement:

The reference to each document is composed of three main elements - a letter prefix denoting the Petty Sessional Division concerned (e.g. PS/A - Arrington & Melbourn), a class letter derived from the function which created the document (e.g. R - court registers) and a serial number, occasionally subdivided. The full reference is obtained by combining these letters with the serial number of the document which appears in the margin underneath.

E.g. PS/B/R2 Bottisham Division court register, 1921-1923
