Catalogue description Photographs of buildings in Wokingham and neighbouring parishes (including some reproductions of earlier photographs and prints)

This collection consists of monochrome prints of photographs of buildings in the Wokingham area of Berkshire. Of the nearly 600 prints, some 90% are of buildings in the town of Wokingham itself; the remainder are of buildings in the parishes of Binfield, Crowthorne, Earley, Easthampstead, Eversley (Hampshire), Finchampstead, Hurst, Winnersh and Wokingham Without.

The photographs are arranged by parish, and within each parish by street. (An index appears at the front of the list, following this introduction).

Large buildings, or buildings fronting on to more than one street will be listed under the street which is most prominent in the photograph, which will not necessarily by the street in which the principal facade of the building appears.

The majority of the prints listed here were made during the 1970s, though the original photographs were often taken earlier. In some cases new photographs have been taken of older prints. The dates supplied are those of the original photographs where known. A date followed by a question mark indicates an estimated date. A note that a building has been demolished indicates that demolition took place before 1984. Later demolitions have not been noted.

The negatives from which these prints were made are now in the custody of the National Monuments Record.
