Administrative / biographical background: |
The firm was founded by Harold A. Rolls at Leighton Buzzard c.1922. It became H.A. Rolls and Partners in August 1964 and ceased trading in 1995. There are no early records of the firm but fortunately the archives of Leighton Buzzard (U.D.LL.P 1) and Linslade (UD.LL.P 2) Urban District Councils, and to a lesser extent those of Dunstable Borough, contain many plans of their work. Throughout its existence the firm designed a wide range of buildings for private clients and the district authorities in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The firm also carried out survey and remedial work on local churches, including All Saints, Leighton Buzzard, after the fire of 1985. |
