1894, First listed: Frederick Ray (styled Lee and Ray), carters, Britannia Road, Bedford.

 

1898-1903, At 17, Cauldwell Street, carter and gravel merchants. (Ray's partner, A. Lee, seems to have the left the firm in February 1903 as he no longer signs the carter's work book, Ref: Z 842/2, after this date).

 

1906, At 17 and 24A, Cauldwell Street.

 

1910, Styled "general contractor's" from this date. Premises at Elstow Road and 17 and 24A, Cauldwell Street.

 

1914-1920, Address reverts to 17 and 24A, Cauldwell Street.

 

1924, At 24A and 25, Cauldwell Street.

 

1928, First mentioned as a limited company.

 

1957, Frederick Ray Limited described as "haulage contractors, builders' merchants, wharfingers, sand and gravel merchants, quarry owners and wholesale distributors of petroleum products". 26, Cauldwell Street.
