Administrative / biographical background: |
This charity was founded by the will of Robert Sandford dated 6 October 1755 by which £1,500 was left for instructing poor children of Henbury in reading and writing. The bequest was not carried into execution until 1782 following a cause in Chancery. The charity was augmented by the will of the Revd. Walker Gray in 1845. |
